Do it Now or Regret it Later...

Have you ever wanted to do something, but you didn't because you were afraid of being judged or getting rejected?

Many of our regrets in life are caused by our own small daily choices.

And if these small choices compound, they will result in an unconscious bad habit that will cause you lifelong regrets.

Habits can either make or break us.

When we are engaged in unfulfilling bad habits...

We take away the chance from being engaged in things that help us overcome our regrets.

Whenever you are making a decision, ask yourself whether that decision contributes to your dream or not.

Keep in mind that every morning is a gift that you can use to shape the rest of your life.

It's your choice to use that gift to pursue your dream or have regrets in life.

In the end, this comes down to our small daily choices in life.

What habits must you change that are standing between you and your dreams?

Make a list of those bad habits (not-to-do list) and start changing them and dumping them one by one.

AWARENESS is the first step.

Do not wait!

Take action today, and change the one habit that will cause your biggest regret in life.

We've Made It!

2020 has been full of surprises, lessons, and new unfoldments.

I want to thank everyone who trusted, supported, and believed in me throughout my rollercoaster-like journey.

There have been unpredictabilities, but that makes life more exciting and worth living, right?

At the end of the day...

We have to learn, adapt, and keep moving forward.

Let’s use this holiday break to reflect on our lives and strengthen our relationships with our family, friends, and loved ones.

I wish everyone more light, peace, love, good health, and optimism.

And as always...

Happy Holidays! Enjoy, and let's keep crushing it!

What's the Hardest Thing about Maintaining a Habit?

It's overcoming that feeling of boredom...

It's building that discipline to push yourself to do that same thing over and over and over...

Does this ring a bell to you?

Yeah, I know that feeling...

I've been there...

I'm guilty that I always create a new habit that I want to be consistent with.

And after a while...

I see myself not doing that habit anymore because it's too hard, or there was no challenge anymore.

Let's be more specific.

We all know how hard it is to start or be consistent in working out.

It's also one of my challenges!

I get excited at first...

Then do the same lifts every day...

And after quite some time of reflecting...

I push myself again to go to the gym...

And the cycle repeats again and again...

Research says that it'll take you around 66 days to build a new habit. Other people say 33 or 21 days.

But what would you exactly do to maintain that burning desire?

Next time you want to maintain a habit, you might want to stay in the zone wherein a habit is somehow easy and just within your challenge zone.

Let's call this the "Medyo mahirap na madali" zone.

This is one takeaway that I got from the book Atomic Habits.

Our human brain loves challenge, but only if it is within an optimal zone of difficulty.

When you feel that your habit is already too easy, make it more challenging to the point that it will keep you motivated, and you make mistakes to keep you working hard.

Now you might ask me...

How the heck would I do that, Jerom?

Well, these tips worked in my experience, so yeah...

First, find a way to always show up. Build that emotional muscle to do that habit until you reach the period of automaticity.

Keep going and continue to advance in small ways.

Surround yourself with people who are doing better than you when it comes to that habit.

And here's the MOST important part...

Regularly check on yourself and search for challenges that push you to your edge while doing enough progress.

If we do the same thing every day, we will get bored.

And boredom is the greatest enemy when you are already consistent with your habit.

So, always remember to stay inside that "Medyo mahirap na madali" zone of yours.

Hope this helps.

How do you handle hard times in life?

Let's talk about being courageous real quick.

Do you remember when I shared my secret that I suck at public speaking?

Well, I still suck at it.

And I always use that as my motivation to be one percent better than I was yesterday.

I'm sure at some point in our lives, we have played a video game.

I am a fan of E-Sports, and I always envision myself that I am playing the game of life.

For me to reach another level, I have to finish different quests, overcome missions & challenges, find a mentor, unlock new maps, and learn a new skill to make my character stronger and stronger.

You see, we can always simplify our lives.

If we want to learn something, we just have to show up and start with Step 1.

At some point, the experience will teach us the lesson that our character needs at that moment.

But what's interesting is we can incorporate to our everyday lives the concepts that we can get from playing video games (except the part of getting resurrected again.)

Every single day we have a choice to be dauntless in our lives and to live intentionally for us to improve our character's levels and skills.

Maybe it's through reading an educational book, finding a good mentor, enrolling in a course, eliminating ineffective habits, or finding a community where you feel safe and challenged at the same time.

The goal is to reach level 2 and move to a higher level.

Or simply putting yourself out there and let the experience teach you what you have to learn.

Every single day we have a choice to be more courageous in life.

Yesterday, I was tested again to give my impromptu thoughts about this quote:

"Hard times don't create heroes. It is during the hard times when the 'hero' within us is revealed." - Bob Riley

This was the quote that challenged my courage and comprehension skills.

Our theme was "Virtual Heroes."

And I was allowed to be myself and just freely express my authentic insights without being judged.

Imagine the feeling of being in a community where there's no judgment, and people are giving you 'healthy' feedback to improve and grow.

That's the community that I always attract in my life.

How about you? What kind of community do you attract?

Again, it was not the perfect speech in the world.

But for me, it was the perfect moment to be more courageous in life, learn from my mistakes, and to step outside my comfort zone.

Truly, it is uncomfortable.

Jitters and flinches will always be there.

Like the feeling that I always get when I take a freezing cold shower in the morning.

You just have to embrace it and do what you have to do.

Be in the present moment.

And lastly, enjoy and acknowledge your imperfections.

Before I end this blog.

I'll leave you again with this question...

"How do you handle hard times in life?"

Love. Jerom

Who Moved my Cheese?

Sounds familiar?

I had the chance to re-read this book today...

It's incredible that every time I re-read this simple parable, a new curtain and realization unfolds.

If you haven't read this book, I encourage you to read it.

This short story is well written and only takes up one hour of your life but may just give you a knowledge of a lifetime.

I make sure that I read this book once in a while to remind me how I should handle changes in life.

"What would you do if you weren't afraid?"

Just imagine what would happen...

As human beings, it's natural for us to view change as a threat or be afraid of change.

Afraid of accepting the truth.

Afraid of acknowledging that change is happening.

Afraid of moving towards an unexplored belief.

And the harder for us to accept change in life, the longer time it will take for us to grow and improve.

But how do we have to handle these life changes?

"Life moves on, and so should we." - Spencer Johnson

Accept that there is nothing permanent in this world except change.

Change happens to all of us.

It is inevitable.

Always remind yourself that you are not a special snowflake.

Even the emotion that you're feeling right now is temporary.

It will all change.

Everything changes, and we have to learn how to adapt quickly.

I know that feeling...

And it's challenging to let go of attachments and the past.

Sometimes, we're so focused on what we're leaving behind, that we don't realize what we're looking for is already in front of us.

Always remember that change could lead to some exciting and better opportunities.

Embrace it.

And it all depends on what you choose to believe.

Take it Easy...

Just dropping by in this rainy season to say...

Take it easy.

Let this blog give you the freedom to pause and celebrate your small wins.

Grab this moment to reflect on your purpose.

Appreciate the battles you fought.

Cherish the scars that made you stronger.

Forgive yourself and other people.

Let go.

You've already come a long way!

Give yourself a treat.

And pat yourself on the back.

Get that massage!

Or go on a nature or beach walk!

Great ideas always come from recovery and reflection.

I know you're busy hustling...

But sometimes, we're so focused on chasing all the things we haven't got that we forget to notice the things we already have, the people in our lives, and the fortunate circumstances in which we live.

Appreciate all your progress.

Calm down for a moment.

Breathe.

And hustle again.

Love. Jerom

Lessons I learned from my Mentor...

As all of you have noticed, I've been on social media hiatus before... The truth is, my greatest fear in life is wasting it, so I grabbe...
